Bweya Children’s Home

Bweya is a small village near the Ugandan capital Kampala. Bweya Children’s Home was found by Christopher and Irene Mukasa in 1968 aided by German friends. Since the 1980ies the children’s home had to operate without constant aid from abroad. This period was shaped by increasing bottlenecks. Bweya Children’s Home is part of the NGO Children Safe Uganda, which is managed by Moses Ssebaggala since 2009.

Bweya Children’s Home wants to offer a transintional Rehabilitation home for a period of 1 to 3 years for children who are orphans or coming from an unacceptable Family Background. Their stay can be finalized by a controlled return to their origin families or by fostering or Adoption. High efforts are bound by tracking the families of the children and the retouching work by visits of the alumnis in their new Environment.

At total ca. 80 children are supported by this program, half of them are staying in the children’s home.
